Trio of rolls with dates

Christmas is coming… And we still have got plenty of things to do: we have to think of gifts, decorations and, most importantly, to Christmas dinner 🙂 ! Have you chosen the menu yet? In case you had not, we hope to inspire you with our proposals.
Beginning from the first course of the meal, we’re presenting a starter that is one and three 😉 . A trio of rolls that contain the same heart: a delicious date.tris involtini di datteriEven if the rolls have the same heart, they are very different from each other. The first is wrapped in smoked salmon and Philadelphia cheese flavoured with chives and spices. The second conceals an almond and is enclosed in a shimmering golden lard with honey and juniper berries. The third, with stronger taste, is wrapped in bacon, gorgonzola cheese and bay leaves.

Ingredients

Rolls with dates and smoked salmon

  • 6 dates
  • 150 grams of smoked salmon
  • 80 g philadelphia cheese
  • white pepper
  • chives
  • nutmeg

Rolls with dates, bacon and gorgonzola

  • 6 dates
  • 100 grams of Gorgonzola cheese
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 3 bay leaves
  • black pepper

Rolls with dates, honey and lard

  • 6 dates
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 6 almonds
  • honey
  • 4 juniper berries
  • black pepper
  • bread crumbs

Instructions

Rolls with dates and smoked salmon

  1. Remove the stone from the dates.
  2. Cut the slices of salmon to get six strips as wide as the dates.
  3. Work the philadelphia cheese with a generous sprinkling of white pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and a bit 'of chives.
  4. Spread the cream over the salmon and wrap it around the dates.
  5. Let the rolls rest in refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

Rolls with dates, gorgonzola cheese and bacon

  1. Divide the gorgonzola cheese and roll it over the slices of bacon.
  2. Add a light sprinkling of black pepper.
  3. Eliminate the stone of the dates and wrap with slices of bacon.
  4. Block the rolls with toothpicks adding outside half bay leaf, cutting it in half the long side. Let the leaf out because it just has to add flavour during cooking.
  5. Place the rolls in the oven to grill for 5 minutes just before serving.

Rolls with dates, honey and lard

  1. Lay the slices of bacon, sprinkle lightly with honey, add a pinch of black pepper and crushed juniper berries. Then sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  2. Replace the stone of dates with almonds and wrap in bacon.
  3. Grill these rolls in the oven for 2 minutes just before serving.
