Long Island iced tea takes its name from the similarity to the classic iced tea, but unlike this innocent drink, it is made up of four spirits and stained with a dash of cola. The result? You will not notice any difference either in appearance or in taste… Just be careful not to overdo!
The Long Island may be born in the 70s in New York, by Robert Butts, who participated in a cocktail contest.
A legend, however, asserts that this drink would be born in Tennessee during Prohibition of the 20s. It was forbidden, in fact, trade and even consume any alcohol, this is why this cocktail was born looking so harmless .
There are several variations of Long Island, some substitute Grand Marnier with triple sec or Cointreau; others add a fifth spirit: tequila.
