Today we’re presenting a first recipe to use our pizza dough: delicious zucchini and ham swirls. They are perfect as an appetizer or finger food: the combination of zucchini, basil and ham is delicious 🙂 .
The recipe is easy to prepare, we’ll give you some tips for a better result:
- roll out the dough very thin, about 2-3 mm, so that it won’t remain raw in the center.
- you do not have to overdo it with the zucchini, otherwise the swirls will tend to fall apart while you try to eat them.
- in order not to distort during cutting, use a sharp knife; in this way you will avoid the filling from leaking out 🙂 .

Total Time 50 minutes
Servings 12 swirls
Ingredients
- 250 g of pizza dough
- 150 g of raw or smoked ham slices
- 4-5 zucchini
- 10 basil leaves
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- olive oil
- salt
Instructions
Preparation of zucchini
-
Saute the garlic in a little oil and then remove it. Add the zucchini cut into thin slices and season with white pepper and salt.
-
When the courgettes are cooked, add the basil leaves. Let them cool.
Preparation of swirls
-
Roll out the dough very thin, 2-3 mm, forming a rectangle about 40x30cm.
-
You should roll it out on a piece of baking paper, to avoid from them sticking. The paper will also help you to wind the swirls.
-
Arrange the slices of ham on the dough, covering it completely.
-
Now spread the zucchini over the ham, as evenly as possible.
-
With the help of baking paper, wrap the dough from the long side.
-
Gently cut your cylinder in slices 2-3 cm wide and block each of them with a toothpick.
-
Arrange the swirs horizontally on a baking sheet and cook in preheated oven at 200 °C for 20 minutes.
